Dissertation Proofreading & Support

- Emily Smith

Emily is a final-year undergraduate student who had become disheartened by her everlasting dissertation project (a lot of us remember this feeling!)

She commissioned me with proofreading what she had written so far, and to assist her in getting the dissertation finished with some creative support. We didn't have a lot of time as the project was due the following week so I got cracking straight away - carefully proofreading every page and making suggestions for edits where appropriate.

Alongside this, I produced a helpful resource document for Emily that would give her the tools she needed to get the work in on time. This included an action plan and breakdown of the dissertation contents so far, a general feedback section, and pointers for what she could add.

C.V. Fine-tuning
- Sam Moult

Sam is a budding chemical engineer, freshly graduated, and looking for his first major break into the industry. He hit a few roadblocks before asking Youcan for a C.V. MOT.

I conducted a bit of research into relevant sectors and job positions that matched his interest and background and created a C.V. support document where Sam could apply the expectations of businesses to the ultimate portrayal of his 'brand' as a young professional.

I also combed through his C.V. to look for aspects to bolster and prioritise, and apply the reverse for less relevant (but still valuable) skills and experience.

Adventures in Advantaged Thinking

- Foyer Federation

The Foyer Federation is a fantastic organisation that coordinates youth homelessness housing and support in the UK and internationally.

Their up-and-coming publication 'The Adventures in Advantaged Thinking' required a once-over before being sent off to print and I had the absolute privilege of working through ten chapters, equating to over 150 pages, of innovative strategy, proposals, and case studies.

I carefully read through each page, diagram, and table, leaving comments where appropriate, for any spelling, grammar, and syntax issues as well as measuring tone and accessibility with the language used.
